About the Author
Stephen Tropiano is the author of Prime Time Closet: A History of the Gays and Lesbians on TV as well as the editor of the Journal of Film and Video, the oldest film journal in the United States. He is the director of the Ithaca College Los Angeles Program, where he teaches film, television history, theory, and criticism. He lives in Los Angeles.

How the Hollywood 'teen movie' genre has changed

Teens represented in movies have for decades influenced American teens in their actions, but until now no book has provided a survey of the Hollywood teen movie image. REBELS & CHICKS: A HISTORY OF THE HOLLYWOOD TEEN MOVIE examines the genre and how it's changed over the decades, using some of Hollywood's most important teen films to consider changing trends. From nostalgia films of the 50s to horror films of modern times, REBELS & CHICKS documents the image and actions of those who represented teen behavior and draws some fine connections between movie image and changing U.S. teen patterns as a result.

This textbook came in perfect condition. It was not essential for passing for the year, the material is well written and I definitely would recommend to a friend. The book is an easy read and should not be too challenging. I took a film class and it was very easy to understand and just worth buying just to read it. I read the book even though it was not needed to pass the class. Every class we watched a movie and then every week we had a response paper. The class was more like a life class over a teaching class. The book is soft covered and was nice and bright. it came basically brand new and I am very happy with the book. If i needed to take the course again I would buy the textbook. If you ever have to take Bueller Bueller Bueller as your first year seminar buy this book! If you're interested in John Hughes movies buy this book! Or just buy the book just because. I would really encourage you to get this book though. It is an easy read and i am very pleased with the quality of the text book. The book was really nice and I do not regret purchasing it. I bought this book for super duper cheap here on amazon. I think I paid like 4 dollars and it was so worth it. . The cheaper the textbook the better haha. Amazon definitely had the cheaper price compared to other places and the sell back price was decent. I would really encourage you to buy this book for class, you will not regret it and you should do well in the course if you actually do the work!
