Excellent resource for people interested in the movie business

Wow! If you're really interested in the movie business then this book is fantastic! Forget the glamour and the stars, Brian Dzyak explains in easy to understand language what really happens on a movie set and simply explains what each of the positions (and there are a lot of them) are that make up the well-oiled machine that is the movie crew.
The author answers practical questions such as "Do I have to move to L.A.?" and "How do I meet the right people in the business?" and then goes on to describe the various jobs on the set: costumes, director and their unit, the camera department, grips, the electric dept., sound, special effects, sets and props, publicity, makeup and hair, and how all of the jobs works together to make a great movie.
Highly recommended for people who are interested in getting into the movie business or are curious about how movies get made.

What I REALLY Want to Do on Set in Hollywood ... BUT Happy I Found This Book

Up until recently, the only answer I had to the question "What (do) I Really Want to do on Set in Hollywood?" was, of course, be a porn star. Alas, the phone has yet to ring.
But when I found myself inadvertently thrust into the uber-intimidating world of being on camera (in my case, TV), I needed a rapid fire education and picked up a copy of this book. I was expecting - hoping, at least - to get a nice glossary-o-lingo, a few insider tips, etc. but what I got was so much more --- a glimpse inside an intriguing career world I'd never imagined.
Brian Dzyak is a first-rate writer with insight not just into the film industry, but into the far bigger issues of career building and lifestyle satisfaction.
(BTW, I'm still interested in that porn career, if anyone On Set in Hollywood is hiring.)
