Awesome Monologue Book!

For anyone, whether you're a teen or all the way up to your 50's, this is a great book to have when you need common monologue practice or something new that no one's heard of before! Not only does it give you great pieces to work with, it'll tell you who it's for [age, sex, with a partner, alone] as well as the tone it sets with a brief description of what's going on! This is not a book that PROVIDES the monolgues, but the sources to it and how to go about acting it. It's a source that'll quickly show you if the monologues made for you or isn't. It's a quick find and amazing to understand. I can't wait to try this out for an audition!

"Sourcebook"...it's in the TITLE of the book.

Please don't give this book a bad review just because you don't know the meaning of the word 'sourcebook'. Do your research - there is plenty of evidence on this site for exactly what this book is actually meant to do - before you purchase a book willy-nilly, and then blame Amazon for your mistake. The book is meant as a 'source' for individuals looking for monologues and scenes. It gives you pertinent information about each source, and then if you would like to go and purchase that play, then do so. Folks, this is not a monologue or scene book. There are no monologues or scenes in it. Don't buy this book if you want monologues or scenes. But do buy it if you want descriptions of source materials. Hope that is plain enough for you.

Great book! Kindle edition: not so much.

I'd like to begin this review with enthusiastic praise of "The Ultimate Scene and Monologue Sourcebook" itself. It was recommended to me by a fellow actor, and the book is as useful as its title suggests. It is no surprise that the book is offered on Kindle. I take my Kindle everywhere, so it could not have been more convenient!
Unfortunately the book's index where the scenes and monologues are categorized by applicable factors like gender or age group, arguably the most useful part of the book, is ENTIRELY OMITTED from the Kindle edition. For many of us, that makes owning the book a bit of a moot point. So, I returned my Kindle edition and set about ordering a regular old paperback. Perhaps the Kindle publishers will see this and remedy the problem!
