An Excellent How-to-draw book!

I found this to be a very useful "how-to-draw" book because the author combined his explanations and simple-step rough sketches with highly-refined examples of finished work from a dozen or so artists. All the artwork in the book is excellent and some examples are even exceptional. In addition to providing skeletons and musculature, the book also does a pretty job of communicating the volume of various beasts by presenting them in a variety of angles.

Grotesque, Cartoony Guide to Drawing Somethign Resembling Dinosaurs

"Think dinosaurs are kid stuff? Not with this artists’ guide!"
What the hell are you talking about? Has anyone actually SEEN the drawings on the inside of the book? This IS a kid's book for drawing dinosaurs! It is nothing more than that. You're not suddenly going to make the leap from drawing comic style sort-of dinosaurs to being James Gurney using this book. The author of the book did NOT illustrate the cover, which belies the extremely primitive and laughable comic-style "dinosaurs" he guides you through drawing.
I see why this thing had such a small run. It's a joke. If you want your kid to be able to draw dinosaurs, they should look at a scientific journal or encyclopedias. That will at least give them a foundation that attempts to be scientifically accurate, This book is the exact opposite of what it makes itself out to be: a joke and a book that you give to kids when you don't know anything about dinosaurs so they can grow up not knowing anything about them, either.

How to draw dinos

This is the first book i read on the subject so I cannot compare it to other works but I must say that it is very satisfying in that it provides for everything the absolute beginner will be needing to draw high quality dino artwork,either realistic and lifelike or more to the cartoonish side,save for the effort and practice needed to become an accomplished artist.It also offers a glimpse to dinosaur anatomy-just the basics but enough for the artist to understand the body structure and mechanics of these creatures.I give four stars just because i would have liked to see more analytical,step-to-step instructions on drawing different poses of the various dinosaur subjects.Other than that its a great investment for the aspiring dino fan artist.
