Epperson has done a wonderful job showing what one of the most detailed metaphysical theories of the 20th century--Whitehead's philosophy of process--contributes to the interpretation of quantum mechanics. The book is highly recommended to anybody interested in quantum physics.

About the Author
Michael Epperson did his doctoral work in philosophy of science and philosophy of religion at The University of Chicago, and earned his Ph.D. there in 2003. His dissertation, Quantum Mechanics and the Philosophy of Alfred North Whitehead, was written under the direction of philosopher David Tracy and physicist Peter Hodgson, Head of the Nuclear Physics Theoretical Group at the University of Oxford. It was published the following year by Fordham University Press, and re-released in paperback by Oxford University Press in 2012. His latest book, Foundations of Relational Realism: A Topological Approach to Quantum Mechanics and the Philosophy of Nature, co-authored with physicist and mathematician Elias Zafiris, was published by Rowman & Littlefield in 2013.
Epperson is the founding director of the Center for Philosophy and the Natural Sciences in the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at California State University, Sacramento, where he is a Research Professor and Principal Investigator.
Epperson's philosophical interests also include ethics and just war theory, and his work in these areas includes the 2005 documentary film, The 11th Day: Crete 1941 (writer, producer) which chronicles the story of the Cretan civilian resistance against German occupation in World War II. The documentary received critical acclaim in publications including The Chicago Tribune, Canada's National Post, The Sacramento Bee, and Newsday. Exhibitions have included a special advance screening requested by members of the United States Congress in 2004, held at the Capitol, and at the British Embassy in Athens, Greece in 2009.

I believed Feynman: "Nobody understands quantum mechanics" until I read this book

After understanding the mathematics and the described behavior of quantum mechanics, I was inclined to agree with Feynman's statement that nobody really understands it. It's frustrating that we have such a detailed, accurate description of the fundamental nature of reality with no compelling explanation of it. Have you found various interpretations unsatisfactory? Ever tried to invent an interpretation yourself and stumbled into a spectacular philosophical mess?
After being blown away by "A Key to Whitehead's Process and Reality", whether or not ANW's masterpiece could actually explain this enigmatic theory was the acid test of its value.
This book lays out that interpretation simply and thoroughly. Even if you don't truck much with linear algebra, bra-ket vector notation, etc., the diagrams and descriptions make the content easily accessible.
Epperson proves Feynman's famous quote wrong. The thrill of having such a lucid insight on deep reality has to be experienced, it cannot be described. You see a new magic in the working of the world and your experience in it.

Like wading through thick syrup

The intelligent readers of quantum theory/philosophy books usually give them lots of stars, and the dummies 1-3. I am not a dummy, veteran of Bohm,et al, with a large portion of my library devoted to the related genres. This book was unreadable to me. Maybe the writer's style just did not resonate with the parallel processors and patterns in my meat computer, or it has a wave function I am unable to collapse. I know it is a worthwhile addition to the library on the subjects, so I gave it 3 stars.
